Say Hello to Crista Galli II
August 31, 2005 – 10:19 pm
Some may remember the tragic loss of my morbidly obese goldfish last spring. Perhaps it was indicative of how I felt at the time. It took me 2 whole days to get the nerve to flush it down the toilet and I was so devastated that I didn’t even look to see it swirl to its grave.
As the seasons changed and I moved to the big city, I decided to try my nurturing hand again. I give you Crista Galli II.
Crista Galli II is a betta fish which means he is a fighter fish. If two males are put in the same bowl they will fight to the death. While I do not intend to do this, I must admit I did consider it.
Crista has pretentious fins and his flirtatious flappings seem to give him an almost bourgeoisie air. At first he always shied away from me as if he was better than me or something. We got into a bit of a fight when I tried to pick him up to put him in his new bowl. The aggression must settle down if we are all going to get along.
Crista has a 14-day life insurance policy. Should he die in that period I can get a new fish free of charge. I pray that I will not have to rely on this, as 2005 has not proved to be a good fish year. I killed somewhere on the order of over half a dozen fish (don’t ask). At any rate I’m sure things will go well for the third member of our condo. Stay tuned for details.

What a cutie. How did you come up with the name? Crista just strikes me more of a feminine name, but what do I know?

Inez google Crista Galli. Look at the shape. That’s how I got the name.

If you want to push your luck with living aquatic animals, you may want to add a little water frog. Many say these make great companions to the beta fish.
